What happens if I donít know when my car was last serviced?
If you are unable to find out when your car was last serviced, we would advise that you have your car serviced by a VAT registered garage, six months or 6,000 miles [whichever is the sooner] from the date of purchase of the vehicle and thereafter either at the manufacturer’s service schedule or at intervals of six months or 6,000 miles [whichever is the sooner]. Not doing this may invalidate your policy.
When is my vehicle due for service and who pays for this?
The best way to find out would be to look at the cars handbook, or contact the dealer you bought it from. We recommend that you have your car serviced at a VAT registered garage either at the manufacturer’s service schedule or at intervals of six months or 6,000 miles [whichever is the sooner]. Paying for the car servicing would be your responsibility, except for on our Absolute Warranty, where the cost of this would be covered.
I am buying a car that has not been serviced within the recommended manufacturer schedules. Can you still provide me with a car warranty?
Once you have purchased the warranty, you must follow the manufacturer's recommended service standards. If the vehicle has not been maintained according the recommended service standards prior to purchasing the warranty, you must carry out a full service at a VAT registered garage within the first 6 months or 6,000 miles of taking out the policy (whichever comes first).
To see if your car is currently up to date with the recommended manufacturer guidelines, you will either need to check the car handbook or contact the manufacturer directly.
