Ampera now Available to Order From Vauxhall
Vauxhall has started to take orders for their new hybrid saloon vehicle, the Ampera E-REV. Full details of both pricing and specs were released for the first time this week, with the car manufacturer saying that the Electron and the Positiv - its two top range Ampera models - were now available to order, while the entry level model is available to order from May.
The Ampera breaks new ground in hybrid technology and starts from a price of £29,995, which includes the UK government's Plug-in Car Grant of £5,000. The price is a full £1,000 more than the original quote for the vehicle and a good deal more than its U.S. counterpart the Chevrolet Volt, which costs £20,500 in the United States. The middle-range Positive is priced at £32,250, inclusive of the grant, while the top of the range Electron costs £33,995, with the grant.
The primary attraction of the car is its range extender technology, which enables it to be able to drive as far as 310 miles even after it has used up all of its electric power. It also continually makes use of its 111 kilowatt electric engine and emits an average of 27g per kilometre of CO2, whilst also keeping fuel costs to an absolute minimum.
"We're breaking completely fresh ground with the Ampera" states the Chairman and Managing Director of Vauxhall, Duncan Aldred. The Ampera is backed by both an eight-year, 100,000 mile battery warranty and a lifetime Car Warranty.
