Best Selling Cars of the Year 2015
Interested to know which cars have been most popular this year? Figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders can provide a detailed insight into the automotive market. Whilst growth of UK new car registrations has been steadily growing, this year sees a rise of 3.2% to over 1780,000!

10th - Fiat 500
The Fiat 500 boasts Italian flare and styling with their compact city car. It’s delightful and quick perky for nipping around town, yet not so comfortable at higher motorway speeds. It’s fair to say it’s been well received with 25,925 sales nationwide.
9th – Mercedes Benz C-Class
The C-class has been awarded best-in-class many reviews. The brand has become recognised for quality and luxury. The C-Class triumphed has the BMW 3-series for popularity. For those who don’t need much luggage space it’s offers affordable luxury and German build quality. With sales of 27,544 the C-Class has certainly done well in the UK market.
8th – Audi A3
Although the A3 model was one of the latest entries into the hatchback market, it’s grown to become one of the best. Small families love the A3 for the quality interior and it’s excellent road handling. Even the costs of ownership are quite respectable when compared to similar vehicles. Sales have stepped up to 29,496.
7th - Volkswagen Polo
The Polo is well known as a fun little compact. It’s a prime candidate for first cars due to affordability. When it comes to the fun factor, the Polo steps down just a little from the Ford Fiesta. With 32,600 in sales the Polo is still very popular this year.
6th - Vauxhall Astra
The Vauxhall Astra usually gets a lot of stick for being the typical company car. Yet this very fact proves it’s a great performer. The Astra provides a great mix of affordability, reliability and utility. With 33,153 sales this year they are still a great choice for many.
5th - Nissan Qashqai
If you can get past the slightly unusual name, the Quashqai has proved itself to be an outstanding family vehicle. Many have compared the drive to be as smooth as the VW Golf, yet with far greater practicality for families. They even appear to hold their value better than other. As a result sales have surged up to 38,290.
4th - Volkswagen Golf
Here we have the VW Golf, the long-term great all-rounder. They offer great handling, practically and economy all in one. They are cheap to run and have proven reliability. The Golf has long reined a great choice for both company and private cars. With 43,141 sales the UK public certainly still loves the Golf!
3rd - Ford Focus
Up at the 3rd spot the Ford Focus feels at home. This long-term performer was remained the standard for driveability for many small cars. Their latest Focus is simply another fantastic compact. Whilst held in high regard their popularity is yet to wane, sales shoot up to 52,122!
2nd - Vauxhall Corsa
The Corsa has had it nailed for years. They are very economic, both cheap to service and maintain. They are an ideal choice for first time drivers since they are easy to drive. Their small but well refined engines are smooth and economic. With 55,011 sales this year the Corsa secures 2nd place.
1st - Ford Fiesta
With 80,494 sales the Fiesta leads the pact by a long shot! Ford has done very well over the years; the Fiesta has long been a fun compact with a range of specifications. Their base models are more cost effective and the higher trim models offer increased comfortable and performance. All models are a hoot to drive with great suspension that beats competitors. The Fiesta has certainly earned itself the top spot for 2015.
