BMW offers volunteers Games fleet
A London Olympic fleet of 3,200 BMW cars is being put up for sale, with first refusal going to the volunteers who helped during the Games.
Originally, BMW staff were intended to be offered the used cars - which have just a few hundred miles on the clock. However, the manufacturer has since revealed that the 'Games Makers' will also benefit from the offer.
The vast majority of the fleet, which consists of electric vehicles and bikes, are brand new models, including over 1,000 320d Efficient Dynamics models.
BMW has dismissed concerns that defleeting so many cars could have a negative impact on market values.
A BMW spokesman said: "I can confirm that games makers have been offered the chance to purchase cars from the Olympic fleet."
The fleet is currently at the BMW distribution centre in Thorne, where the vehicles are undergoing any necessary repairs and refurbishments.
