Car recall system ready for launch
A free electronic vehicle safety recall system is due to go live next month, the BVRLA and its technology partner, Ebbon-Dacs, have announced.
The BVRLA appointed Ebbon-Dacs last September and announced that it would be developing a standardised recall system for its members that should be free to use.
In 2010 nearly one million vehicles in the UK were affected by a vehicle safety recall notice, which left leasing companies with significant costs as they managed various digital and paper recall notices from vehicle manufacturers.
When the ReCare system is launched, BVRLA members will have a single location where they will be able to look for safety recall notifications from all vehicle manufacturers.
They will be able to enter data from their fleet and the system will highlight all the vehicles that are subject to new or outstanding safety recall notifications.
The system will go live next month, once a series of final reviews and validations involving fleet operators and manufacturers have been completed.
