Not everyone is aware that providers sometimes offer a window of opportunity to change auto warranties after the purchase of a new or used vehicle.  While this is not always possible, many dealers allow some sort of time period after a purchase to revisit the warranty arrangements and make some adjustments to the plan.  Here are a couple of reasons why this may be an attractive option.

In many cases, buyers do not look closely at the terms in the auto warranties they purchase.  The focus is on the car purchase itself.  Once the excitement dies down a bit, there is time to peruse the warranty in more detail.  At that point, the owner may wish he or she had gone with a plan that provided a wider range of cover.  Rather than think nothing can be done, call the provider; there is at least some chance that you can upgrade the plan with relatively little effort.

Hardship situations may also make it possible to revert from more costly auto warranties to one that is more basic.  Consumers who suddenly face job losses or other financial issues may be able to prevail upon a warranty provider to allow them the chance to go with something that is less costly.  There is no hard and fast rule that says providers must do so, but many will be open to the idea as a way of keeping your business and also cultivating goodwill that will increase the chances you will come back again for your next car purchase.
