Kia Picanto Wins Prestigious Design Award
The sporty entry level Kia Picanto three door, which is available exclusively in Europe, has won the much coveted iF product design award for 2012 just a few months after its launch. The award recognises design quality together with a number of other factors, such as eco-friendliness, innovation and workmanship.
The commendation for the Picanto is the fourth iF product design award that Kia has won in the last three years, with prizes also being awarded to the Venga B-Segment MPV, the Optima mid-size saloon and the Sportage compact SUV. The brand has also in the last three years won the red dot design award no less than four times as well.
"Receiving the iF product design award for the new Kia Picanto is a great success for our design team and it is welcome recognition of our brand's design oriented strategy," says the chief design officer of Kia, Peter Schreyer. "The second generation of the Picanto displays a very purposeful, self assured design, and its sportiness is particularly underscored by the three-door version."
The Kia Picanto features bold and dynamic styling together with high quality fittings for the interior of the vehicle and a number of other class leading accessories. It comes in most markets with a 7-year/100,000 mile Car Warranty. The car has been specifically designed to target the growing number of discerning consumers who are looking to 'downsize' to a smaller vehicle. The new Picanto is the very first to come in a three-door form, and is expected to end up accounting for up to 45% of all Picanto sales in the United Kingdom.
