Car manufacturer Kia has unveiled its sales strategy as the brand aims to reach 100,000 annual registrations.

Rather than looking to vastly increase the number of dealerships, dealer development director Simon Hetherington told Automotive Management that Kia plans to increase unit sales per location.

Latest figures show that an average showroom provides 320 sales a year.

Although the number of showrooms will not be significantly expanded, the Vision 100 strategy does include plans to expand floor space and increase after sales teams in existing locations.

Dealers have been tasked with tailoring their own plan to implement the strategy in their region. Currently the 172 sale points have an output ratio of 1.3 used vehicles to one new.

One of the main advantages that Kia has over the competition is the extended warranty schemes that it offers.

Mr Hetherington says that Kia needs to improve customer retention and the Care 3 service plan and seven year warranty are the best tools for doing so.
