Most iconic racetracks in the UK

We have a proud heritage of motorsport here in the UK. In fact, you would be hard pressed to find a single motorsport across the globe that doesn’t have a British driver counted amongst its greats. It’s not just behind the wheel where we excel. The UK also has some of the best racetracks in the world, circuits that push drivers to the limit, and thrill race fans all across the planet.

Snetterton Circuit

Located in Norfolk outside the small village that gives it its name, Snetterton Circuit is most famous for its British Touring Car and Formula Three races. First opened in 1953, the circuit is just less than three miles long and has thirteen turns. As well as BTTC and F3, the circuit plays host to 24-hour competitions, including the Citroen 2CV 24 Hour Race.

Donington Park

First created after World War II, Donington Park race circuit in Leicestershire once played host to the famous Silver Arrows from the Mercedes-Benz racing team. Today it plays host to a variety of different races, including BTTC, British F3 and the WSBK (superbike world championship), and also played host to MotoGP in the past. The Grand Prix circuit is 2.5 miles long and has twelve turns.

Brands Hatch

Once described by former F1 driver as Gerhard Berger as ‘the best circuit in the world’, Brands Hatch is one of the most iconic venues in British motorsport history. It was host of the British Grand Prix twelve times between 1964 and 1986, becoming one of the most popular courses on the race calendar. Starting off as a grass circuit, it has grown to be one of the best known raceways in the UK. It currently hosts a wide variety of motorsport, and even played a part in the 2012 Paralympic Games as the start and end of the road race.

Silverstone

Possibly the most famous racetrack in the UK, Silverstone is the current home of the British Grand Prix, an event it first hosted in 1948. Today, it is also the home of MotoGP in the UK, and has races for the FIA Word Endurance championship, BTTC and World Superbikes. 3.6 miles long with 18 turns, this is the race most drivers want to win – not just the British!
