Obtaining a Car Warranty on a Cheap Used Car
Buying a cheap used car is a great way to obtain reliable transportation while saving a significant amount of money upfront. Unfortunately, those cheap used cars donīt always come with a Car Warranty. This means you have to do the legwork and find a warranty plan on your own. Here are some tips on how to find the best one.
Check in your local area for providers who offer car warranty options on certain makes and models of used cars. Keep in mind that many providers have some criteria that need to be met before they will underwrite the warranty, including the mileage on the engine and the age of the car. Still, there will be many providers that are prepared to offer a car warranty for older vehicles, so finding at least a few who offer the level of cover you require should not pose much of a problem.
Once you identify a few providers, take the time to compare terms and costs. The idea is to get the broadest range of coverage for the lowest price possible. Pay close attention to what is required of you in order to be able to claim any benefits from the warranty, including which dealers and garages you can use for routine maintenance. As long as you understand the scope of coverage, your responsibilities and the total cost of the warranty, you can make an informed decision whether to go with a specific provider or keep looking for a better deal.
