Strong start as Peugeot awaits 208
Peugeot is celebrating a strong start to 2012 in the market in the United Kingdom, during a year that bosses are expecting will have "two halves." The brand has witnessed an overall increase in sales of 3.2% in a market that is generally only up by as little as just 1%.
Peugeot spokesman Andrew Didlick, who was speaking at the launch of the new 508 RXH hybrid, claimed that a number of models had been performing very well indeed, notably the 207 super-mini, which has recorded volumes that are on a par with last year even despite being on run-out, with the brand waiting for the launch of the 208 in three months time in July. That vehicle is expected to end up dominating the sales performance for the entire year. Sales are up 28% when it comes to the newly refreshed 107 city vehicle, with retail sales of the 308 and the 3008 having gone up by 33% and 49% respectively.
The brand's fleet presence has been boosted by the launch of the 508 in 2011, with market sales growing by 6.5% even prior to the launch of the new hybrid RXH version, which due to its huge significant tax advantages is expected to attract a lot of fleet buyers.
The company has also been very successful with its "Just Add Fuel" campaign, which offers routine servicing, breakdown cover, insurance and Car Warranty over a three-year period.
