The longest roads in the world
Getting out on the open road can be one of life’s great pleasures. Staring out at a long winding path ahead of you can be relaxing. But all good things come to an end and you’ll eventually find the road runs out. Luckily, there are some roads out there that are huge in length and scope. Here are five of the longest roads in the world.
Golden Quadrilateral Highway, India
Getting around in one of the most populous countries on the planet is difficult. So it’s little wonder one of the largest highways in the world is being built in India. Connecting the majority of its major cities, the road is 5,486km long and will allow you to take in all the breathtaking sights that can be found in India.
Travelling through all ten of Canada’s provinces, the Trans-Canada Highway takes you from the Atlantic Ocean all the way to the Northern Pacific. 8,030km of amazing Canadian sights and scenery to take in.
Like the famous trainline that shares its name, the Trans-Siberian Highway takes you from the Sea of Japan in the far east across Asia and Europe to the Baltic Sea. At 11,000 km in length, the road is one of the longest highways in the world.
Highway 1, Australia
Coming in at 14,500km, the Australian Highway 1 takes you right around the edge of Australia. Every day, more than 1 million people drive on some portion of the road.
At over 48,000km in length, the Pan-American Highway takes you from Canada in North America, all the way down through nine countries to Buenos Aires in Argentina. There’s no better way to see the Americas and there’s even a short stop to check out a rainforest on the way.
