Top Five Superhero Vehicles

Now dominating the silver screen as well as the pages of comic books, superheroes have been inspiring children and adults for decades. With supernatural skills and superhuman strength, we’ve all wondered what it would be like to be a superhero. But it’s not just about superpowers – many of our favourite superheroes often rely on gadgets, gear and vehicles. Here’s our list of the best superhero vehicles.

Batmobile

The most iconic of all superhero vehicles, the Batmobile has been the key tool in Batman’s arsenal almost since his first appearance. It has come in a range of different shapes and sizes, but always in Batman’s signature colour – black. Smoke bombs, machineguns, missile launchers, there is a surprisingly large arsenal for a superhero that refuses to kill. Even so, the Batmobile is always there to help Batman out of a tight spot.

Invisible Plane

Ancient Greek Goddesses need more than just their Olympus-born superpowers to get them around. One vehicle sadly missing from the new Wonder Woman film (or was it?) was her iconic invisible plane. Built by Diana as she grew up on Paradise Island, the invisible plane allowed her to keep up with Superman. The ultimate stealth weapon, it could fly rapidly and silently, allowing Wonder Woman to strike before the enemy knew what hit them.

Ghost Rider’s motorcycle

Becoming a demon from hell has  its perks. For Johnny Blaze a.k.a Ghost Rider, it comes with a motorcycle that can travel faster than any vehicle, ride up walls and across water, and leap across great distances. Another bonus is that it’s burning wheels mean you don’t have to worry about wear and tear to the tyre.

Spider-mobile

“Wait, what does Spider-man need a car for?” A very good question that was soon answered – he doesn’t. But that didn’t stop the comic creators at Marvel giving it a go. Able to drive on walls, fitted with web launchers and a spider-signal, the car proved less practical and more a way to sell a few more toys. Even that didn’t hold out for long with the Spider-mobile soon relegated to a museum piece at the Smithsonian.

The Batwing

“Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, wait yes it is a plane.” Almost as iconic as the Batmobile, the Batwing is Batman’s only way to fly. Like the Batmobile, it has come in a range of different sizes and designs, always in black. Recently, Batman has been employing drones in his arsenal, but it’s the Batwing that is always called upon when Gotham needs a superhero – and fast!
