Ways to Sort out Finances in 2012
Shopping around for better deals on your car insurance, including extended auto warranties, is one of the top ten best ways to sort out your finances in 2012, according to the Daily Mirror. The newspaper points out that car insurance is not a contract and prices for renewal of car insurance can often be at their highest, with uSwitch.com claiming that the average motorist can save up to £200 just by comparing prices on the internet and going for the best deal rather than simply renewing their current insurance.
Other ways the Daily Mirror recommends saving money include checking your credit file to be certain there are no nasty surprises waiting for you should you be intending to apply for a credit card, mortgage or other sort of loan. This can also give you warning should anyone be trying to carry out fraudulent activity using your name or if someone has stolen your identity, which can cause chaos with both your finances and your life in general.
Another way to keep your finances healthy is by checking bank statements to ensure there are no costly mistakes or rogue transactions, as well as by double-checking that you are not still continuing to pay for items that have been cancelled, such as direct debits, standing orders or subscriptions.
The Daily Mirror also recommends checking what rate you are receiving on your savings account, and taking advantage of loyalty card programmes at shops such as Boots, Sainsbury's and Tesco's.
