What is a Car Warranty and why do I need one?

In general, a car warranty is an insurance policy that covers repair costs and/or replacement parts and labour for your car in the event of a mechanical or electrical fault. (Please refer to the full terms and conditions of your chosen warranty). Every new car comes from the manufacturer with a standard car warranty, offering repair or replacement of any mechanical breakdown of the car for a limited period and within a limited number of miles. Once this warranty expires, you will need to pay for any repairs out of your own pocket. Go Car Warranty want to give you peace of mind at an affordable price to help to keep your car on the road.

What is the policy claims excess?

In the event of a valid claim we will not apply any excess payments on Go Car Warranty products.

Does my car need a full service history to get a car warranty from Go Car Warranty?

No. All we ask is that you service your car from now on according to the manufacturer recommendations (please refer to the full terms and conditions of our warranty).

Can I get my vehicle repaired at my favourite garage?

You can use any VAT registered garage to repair your vehicle. However, if necessary, we can refer you to our nationwide nominated repairer network. We have inspected these garages and approve of the standard of workmanship and quality that they produce, which is continuously monitored to ensure that they are providing the best customer service.

If I have a Car Warranty, do I have to have my vehicle SERVICED at specific garages?

Go Car Warranty understand the need for flexibility, so all that we ask is you have your car serviced at a VAT registered garage, to ensure that the work carried out is completed to standard. (Please refer to the full terms and conditions of your warranty).

Are your premiums a one off payment?

Your premium quoted on Go Car Warranty is the total cost for your policy. We are aware of the need to budget that's why we have an option to pay for your policy over 10 instalments. Please ask an advisor for this option.

Do I still need Car Breakdown Cover if I have a Go Car Warranty?

Your Go Car Warranty is not a breakdown assistance product. Please call 0330 0130 585 for a breakdown recovery quote.

What if I sell my car?

If you decide to sell your car, you can transfer the warranty to the new owner at no additional cost. Just call 0330 0130 585 and we will talk you through the transfer process. Please note there is a £35 admin charge to transfer your Go Car Warranty.

Are labour rates limited when making a claim?

Go Car Warranty want to make your life as easy as possible, and for that reason you can choose to have your car repaired at a franchise or network repairer. Some garages charge a higher labour rate than others and Go Car Warranty will pay up to the national labour rate or a maximum of £75 per hour. Authorised claims will be settled direct with the garage so you shouldn’t be out of pocket.

How do I cancel a Policy?

No fees are charged for arranging your policy. However, should you decide this policy is not right for you, you may cancel it within 30 days of purchase. Providing no claim has been made you will receive a full refund. This policy has no surrender value and in all other circumstances cancellation is without refund.

What do I do if I need to make a claim?

If you have a policy with Go Car Warranty, you must contact our claims team on the number below before your nominated garage can carry out any work.

  • Policy Type (i.e PremierPlus, Comprehensive or Standard)
  • Current mileage
  • Vehicle registration

We are open for claims enquiries from: 9am – 7pm (Mon - Fri)
10am – 4pm (Sat - Sun)

Do I have to pay the costs before being reimbursed?

The majority of all claims are paid directly to the repairer by us.

Do the warranties cover commercial vehicles?

Our policies do not apply to vehicles used for hire or reward [for example taxis, self-drive hire or driving schools].

Will you pay for a hire car?

Go Car Warranty will pay up to £30 a day [including VAT], for up to seven days, towards the cost of a replacement vehicle. You can only have a replacement vehicle if your vehicle is being repaired under this policy and prior authority has been given by Go Car Warranty’s Claims Department.

What happens if I breakdown abroad?

If you should suffer from mechanical breakdown whilst in Europe parts and labour may be included in your warranty (terms and conditions apply). The costs of breakdown recovery whilst in Europe are not covered by Go Car Warranty.

The policy is valid for up to 60 days per annum [pro rata] for driving in the Republic of Ireland and mainland Europe. Whichdeal Limited will not pay more than the equivalent UK cost for parts and labour. N.B. These benefits will not be provided if the failure is not covered by the Policy. Payments will be limited to those levels outlined in the Policy.

What do I do if a garage won’t do a warranty repair?

We would refer you to our nationwide nominated repairer network. we have inspected these garages and approve of the standard of workmanship and quality that they produce, which is continuously monitored to ensure that they are providing the best customer service.
