Review Before you Renew Your Auto Warranty

Review Before you Renew Your Auto Warranty Image

When the time rolls around to renew your auto warranty, the instinct is often to simply renew the same plan without much thought.  However, it would be a good idea to spend a little time looking at the provisions of that current warranty plan and also compare those terms with plans offered by other providers.  Depending on the specifics of your current auto warranty and how they relate to your car at the present time, you may find that making a switch would save money and still allow you to have the level of cover you need.

With some auto warranty plans, not all the provisions will renew when you decide to take another year or so of the same plan.  As your car ages and the mileage increases, a few of those covered events may be disallowed.  Unless you read the terms of the renewal contract closely, these changes may slip by unnoticed, until you have some sort of issue take place and suddenly find that particular event was not covered in the renewal.

Rather than making assumptions, find out exactly what changes would occur if you chose to renew the auto warranty plan with the current provider.  Once you have that information in hand, talk to a few independent providers and determine what they can offer in the way of matching or exceeding those provisions, either at the same price or for a little less.  Depending on the specifics of the situation, you may find yourself with a more comprehensive warranty plan and a lower cost.
