Understanding The Terms Of Your Motor Warranty

Understanding The Terms Of Your Motor Warranty Image

Making sure you understand the terms and conditions that relate to your Motor Warranty is very important if you want to gain the greatest level of benefit from the coverage.  Unfortunately, many car owners wait until something goes wrong before consulting their warranties to determine if the repair is covered under the terms.  This is often a dangerous approach, since it is possible to overlook something important that might allow you to take advantage of the benefits included.

In order to get a good idea of what your motor warranty does and does not cover, take the time to read it carefully.  While going through the document, jot down notes about any sections or provisions that raise questions or concerns.  At times, you will find a section later in the text of the motor warranty that will answer those questions.  If not, then contact the warranty issuer and get answers to any lingering questions you may have.

Just as with car insurance, it is important for owners to understand the scope of coverage that is provided within a motor warranty.  While some dealers will take the time to look up your warranty plan and advise you of whether certain replacements or repairs are covered under the terms of the agreement, others will expect you to claim to those benefits.  If you have not looked at your warranty in some time, or perhaps tucked it away after purchasing the car, take the time to read it now.  You may be surprised at how comprehensive the coverage actually is, and how it may benefit you in the future.
