4x4 market set to see value hike

4x4 market set to see value hike Image

Industry experts are suggesting now is the time to sell your 4x4, if you were considering doing so, as the value of the rugged-terrain friendly vehicles rose by 16% in October.

Long-range weather forecasts are predicting some tough driving conditions to come, and vehicle auction company, British Car Auctions (BCA) believe that prices may continue to rise as a result.

The average value of a 4x4 coming up for auction rose by 1,838 compared to September, and now stands at 13,000. This is well ahead of the values recorded throughout the quieter spring and summer months.

However, whilst sellers are being urged to sell, the BCA are also advising that it would be a good time to buy, as anybody in the market for a 4x4 is likely to see prices rise further if the severe weather predicted by the met office materialises.

Tim Naylor from BCA explained that there was a long-established trend between falling temperatures and the rising values of 4x4s, and they don't expect to see that change. Furthermore, the first hint of snow or inclement weather that affects driving conditions tends to see prices rise even further.

Mr Naylor urged drivers to go for the best specifications they can afford, as the 4x4 will retain its value better as well as being more conducive with reliability against mechanical breakdown, and superior performance in the conditions.
