Audi SQ5 TDI a 'diesel pioneer'

Audi SQ5 TDI a 'diesel pioneer' Image

The new Audi SQ5 TDI will be a trailblazer when it arrives on UK roads next spring, as the company's first-ever 'S' model that runs on diesel.

Offering a 3.0-litre V6 BiTDI engine and capable of achieving more than 41 miles per gallon, any motorists considering their car finance options should note the SQ5 TDI costs 43,870 on the road and is available to order now.

The vehicle, which boasts an eight-speed tiptronic automatic transmission and quattro all-wheel-drive system, is capable of reaching 62 miles per hour in just 5.1 seconds from a resting start.

Its fuel efficiency performance is achieved partly thanks to clever thermal management, an engine start-stop system and a regulated oil pump.CO2 output is 179g/km.

Audi has incorporated a range of features into the SQ5 TDI which it says are also geared towards delivering an impressive performance, such as its two turbochargers and the design of its cylinder head cooling, pistons, their oil-jet cooling and the piston pins.

It also boasts nimble handling for an SUV thanks to its 20-inch alloy wheels and the vehicle's 'S' sports suspension positions it 30 millimetres lower than the standard Q5.

An 180-watt Audi sound system comes as standard, as does a Bluetooth interface, cruise control, three-zone climate control, light and rain sensors and rear-parking sensors.

Customers can choose from a number of upgrades on offer, including a 505-watt Bang & Olufsen sound system.

Another optional upgrade is the Audi connect system, which allows users to import Google services into the car and create an in-car Wi-Fi hotspot.

Another option is the Technology Package, which includes a hard disc-based satnav system with Audi Music Interface iPod connection and the Audi Parking System Plus.

Audi is greeting the new diesel-powered SQ5 TDI's arrival as a historic moment, following on from six years ago when the Audi R10 made history on the circuit when it became the first-ever sports prototype to win at Le Mans under TDI power.
