Dealer Car Warranties Versus Warranties From Independent Providers

Consumers often don't think in terms of shopping around when it comes to Car Warranties.  The usual approach is to look over any warranty plans offered through the dealer, choose one, and not give the matter another thought.  While this can work out fine, the fact is that some consumers can do better by comparing those dealer warranties with plans provided by independent agencies.

The goal is to secure the best possible warranty plan for the least amount of money.  Depending on where you live and the make and model of car involved, the car warranties offered by dealers will clearly be better in terms of the scope of coverage and the price.  In other areas, the reverse may be true.  Since there is no way of knowing beforehand, this means that you owe it to yourself to compare terms and pricing before making a commitment.

There is usually a grace period after a purchase that allows owners time to look over different car warranties and make a choice.  Use this period to the best advantage and explore all your options.  That means looking over all the warranty plans offered by the dealer, while also spending some time finding and evaluating other warranty plans.  Often, a quick search online will let you know if there are other plans available in your area that includes your make and model of vehicle.  Doing so will mean greater peace of mind over the years, and may even save a little money in terms of the cost of the warranty you choose.
