England car plate fetches 15600
A fervent England supporter has spent £15,600 on a personalised EN61 AND number plate for his car ahead of the European Championships as he "couldn't resist".
Brian Brody, 66, of St John's Wood, who owns a number of pubs and a brewery in London was the buyer of the plate, and felt it was a great way to display his passion for the national team during the tournament.
The licence plate was sold along with many others at the DVLA Personalised Registrations Olympic-themed auction at City Hall in London, which earned £122,600 from the first 50 items sold.
The EN61 AND and BU11 DOG (£16,400) number plates made the most money at the auction, at which London 2012 ambassador Iwan Thomas was in attendance because of the event's official Olympic status.
The former Olympic athlete, who won a silver medal in the 4x400 relay in Atlanta 96, took charge of the auction himself for two items - the REL 44Y and RUN 3R livence plates sold for £730 and £2,548 respectively under his stewardship.
