Improving Garage Standards for Car Warranty Claims

Whether you have a form of auto warranty or not, it is important to know that the garage you use for servicing and repairing your vehicle is reputable and follows the regulations and industry standards. A recent report by Which? has prompted the creation of a new scheme and revealed that garages are working hard to change their image and reputation so that they are seen as reliable and trustworthy.

The scheme involves garages taking a series of tests, which include practical assessments, written assessments and being inspected by mystery shoppers. The garages that usefully pass the tests can then display a logo on their premises, which will show that they have met the required standard. The logo will be the equivalent of Kitemark; the quality symbol used by companies to show that their product meets defined safety standards.

Some customers struggle to find a garage that they can feel comfortable leaving their car with. Even with an auto warranty in place, drivers need to be sure that the work carried out is to a high standard. An auto warranty provides such peace of mind for a customer - after all, it is a policy that can help save on future repair costs. But drivers also need the peace of mind of knowing that the work is being done by a reputable mechanic. It should not be assumed, however, that any garage that has not opted to join the scheme is an untrustworthy garage. Instead, simply assume that any garage donning the new logo is a particularly reliable garage that you can trust.
