Movember The Best Car Charity Fundraisers

It's the month of Movember! Where men up and down the country sprout a strip of facial hair in a bid to improve 'the face of mens health' (we like what they did there). So far it's raised over £346 million and helped fund over 800 programmes in 21 countries. Impressive stuff indeed.

But if you don't have the capacity (or will) to grow a tash, there are plenty of other ways you can raise much needed cash for charities. Peruse our list of car related ways to raise, and indulge your passion without guilt...

Car wash

What do you get when you mix Peter Andre, Pudsey the Bear and dirty cars? The UK's biggest ever car wash! 'Get Sudsy with Pudsy' is part of Peugeot’s Children In Need initiative to raise a massive £250,000 for the charity, which aims to improve the lives of disabled children and young people in the UK. Cypriot-born singer Peter helped to raise awareness, and even rolled his sleeves up and got scrubbing. Not to mention taking a few buckets of soapy water for the team. Good on you, Pete!

Car auctions

On the other side of the pond, George Clooney auctioned off his super green electric Tesla Roadster. With zero tailpipe emissions, yet refusing to compromise on suave style or sports car performance, it's easy to see how this car might attract enthusiasts with an environment streak (or George Clooney mega fans!). It sold for £61,900 and the proceeds went towards George's humanitarian charity, the Not On Our Watch Project, which aims to bring attention to human rights violations across the world.

American TV host Jay Leno upped the ante when he auctioned off his striped Fiat 500 Prima Edizone, which raked in a whopping £220,000! The money was greatly received by Fisher House, which provide military families with accommodations whilst loved ones are receiving treatment.

Car rally

If Wacky Races was your favourite show, then this could be the charity fund raiser for you. The annual Wacky Rally entails purchasing an old banger, dolling it up and dragging it from one country to another in the name of charity and adventure. Interested? The 2015 Wacky Rally will see entrants go through the Swiss Alps, up and down the hills of Italy before finishing off at the Spanish Catalan capital of Barcelona. There are plenty more charity car rallies out there, but if you fancy yourself as a bit of a Peter Perfect or Penelope Pitstop, the Wacky Rally is the way to go.

Formula 1

Great Ormond Street Hospital teamed up with Formula 1 Management to host a charity auction that would make any F1 fan weak at the knees. Items up for grabs included a VIP tour of the Infiniti Red Bull racing garage, a VIP trip to the Monaco Grand Prix complete with paddock passes, an Ultimate VIP 2015 Formula 1 British Grand Prix Experience and F1 driver overalls, signed by Jean-Eric Vergne, among others. The result? Over £900,000 raised to go towards a brand spanking new surgery centre to treat children with rare and complex conditions.
