Optima Saloon Launch Confirmed by Kia

Optima Saloon Launch Confirmed by Kia Image

The new Optima will be available for sale in the United Kingdom, Kia has confirmed.  The saloon, which is the size of a Ford Mondeo, is set to be the flagship model of the entire Kia range, with prices to begin at £19,595 on the road.

The vehicle is primarily aimed at business owners in the United Kingdom and as such comes with just the one type of engine, a 1.7 CRDi diesel that has a bhp rating of 134 and that claims a fuel economy figure of 57.6 miles per gallon, complete with standard six-speed manual gearbox.  CO2 emissions are as low as just 128g per kilometre, which means that company car drivers will be able to get low Benefit In Kind tax.

Intelligent Stop & Go comes on all manual versions of the Optima, which saves fuel by cutting the engine when in traffic.  Automatics in the meantime come with an Active ECO button that changes the operation of the engine and of the compressor featured on the climate control system, resulting in a potential fuel saving of as much as 9%.

The Optima is hugely popular in Korea, though the brand is not really recognised for larger saloons in the United Kingdom, and so the company has included a very high level of equipment as standard features, some of which have never previously been included with a Kia.  The car goes on sale from the 1st February and includes the standard seven year or 100,000 miles Car Warranty,
