Toyota celebrates with the new Auris

Toyota celebrates with the new Auris Image

Toyota is celebrating 20 years of manufacturing cars in the UK by releasing the new Auris family hatchback, complete with a "Built in Britain" badge, and a five-year, 100,000-mile Vehicle Warranty.

The second generation of Toyota's popular seller is about to hit the streets with a range of sharply-styled models and eco-friendly engines, including a hybrid.

Prices for the entry-level models, the 1.3-litre petrol Auris with newly-named Active trim, are some 1,500 more, at 14,495, than the outgoing model. However, at the other end of the range the higher grade models, topping out at 21,745, are in the same price bracket as before.

Toyota expect the hybrid to dominate sales, particularly as it is priced from 19,995, slightly cheaper than the last model.

Also attractive is the claimed average fuel economy, with the tax-friendly, low emissions of just 87g/km, meaning the new Auris offers an attractive 74 miles to the gallon. Indeed, the car manufacturing giant claims the average business driver in a hybrid, could save up to 1,500 in tax over three years, compared to driving something like a 1.6-litre diesel Ford Focus.

Even the battery claims to have a longer lifespan, with an eight-year guarantee.
