Vauxhall Mokka to be third best seller

Vauxhall Mokka to be third best seller Image

The new Vauxhall Mokka will quickly become the third best selling model in the entire brand, boss Duncan Aldred believes.  The Chairman and Managing Director of Vauxhall UK believes that the vehicle will soon begin to outsell the Insignia and end up just under the Corsa and the Astra in the sales charts of the marque.

Aldred stated that the Mokka was the most important car being launched for car dealers and that a small SUV offered great potential for the carmaker.  He added: "The industry and consumer preferences are moving towards this kind of car.  It's practical, but fun and fresh in an attractive package.  I expect next year - in its first full year of sales - it will become our third best selling model."  Aldred, who was speaking at the Geneva Motor Show, went on to declare that the new model could even spawn a VXR version sometime in the future, though acknowledged that currently the badge focus is firmly on the new Astra VXR, which made its debut at the show.

The Astra VXR is the pinnacle for Vauxhall, according to Aldred.  "It is a car that is perfect for the UK marketplace and the fact that Ford has chosen not to do a 3-door version of the ST somewhat opens up the opportunity for us."

Aldred believes that the Mokka and the VXR are helping the brand to close the gap on market leaders such as Ford and also that other innovations such as making it more affordable to buy a Vauxhall with flexible finance products and a lifetime Car Warranty can also assist with this goal.
