When Auto Warranty Plans Seem too Confusing

Sometimes auto warranty plans can seem a bit intimidating.  The language used in the terms and provisions of a warranty agreement can be difficult for some people to understand, especially consumers who are not used to the use of legal language found in most contracts.  When you are having trouble understanding the terms found in different warranty plans, do not attempt to muddle through on your own; get some help.

One approach is to sit down with a representative of the company that provides the auto warranty protection.  Ask for an explanation of what is meant by sections of the contract that you are having trouble understanding.  Do not hesitate to ask for examples that help to illustrate those terms, so you can get a better idea of how they relate to you.

If you are uncomfortable talking with the representative, seek out a friend or loved one who has experience with interpreting the legalese found in contracts.  Point out the sections that are providing distress and ask for help in understanding what they mean.  Your friend or loved one can provide you their knowledge and may also act as your mediator and approach the provider on your behalf.  

Remember that ultimately it is your responsibility to understand and uphold the terms of your auto warranty plan.  Take the time to verify what you are told using independent sources.  This will make it easier to get a secure hold on what your plan does and does not include, and how those provisions will ultimately be applied.
