Whiplash injury claims still on the rise
New research has revealed that the number of whiplash claims is still rising despite the total number of road accident injuries actually decreasing.
The third yearly report from the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, the international professional body for actuaries, shows that there is a notable difference between data for road injuries since 2006 from police and the number of personal injury claims.
The rise in the total number of claims has reportedly cost the industry £400 million and the organisation behind the report is laying the blame partially at the door of claims management companies.
The study also highlights that the number of accidents or mechanical breakdowns that lead to third party injury claims varies significantly across the country, with Birmingham having 11 of the 20 worst districts for the issue.
