Why Maintenance is so Important to Your Used Car Warranty

Why Maintenance is so Important to Your Used Car Warranty Image

It is not unusual for the provisions within a used Car Warranty to include prescriptive details of regular maintenance of the covered vehicle.  The fact is that while regular maintenance does benefit the warranty provider in that it helps to minimise costly repairs, it is also to the advantage of the car owner.  Simply put, if you look after the car by taking advantage of those discounts or even free service checks provided by the used car warranty provisions, you'll be able to enjoy the benefits while also reducing the chances of being stranded by the side of the road.

Engine maintenance, including oil and filter changes, are often basics included in any type of used car warranty.  This means you can take advantage of discounts when it comes to changing the oil and having a new air filter installed in your pride and joy.  These are all tasks that should be carried out anyway, but the fact is that if you have a warranty that requires you to manage the maintenance as a means of claiming full benefits in the event of a major problem, there is a much better chance you will follow through with that maintenance schedule.

A well maintained vehicle is much less likely to encounter some sort of breakdown.  This is because the routine maintenance will often uncover an issue while it is still relatively minor and has not begun to generate additional wear and tear on the engine, the gearbox, or some other vital system in the car.  Catching the problem early on means less inconvenience for you and less expense for the warranty provider.
