Why you Should Keep a Copy of Your Auto Warranty in the Car Image

For many car owners, the auto warranty is a document that is filed away with other important papers, only to be retrieved when and as it is needed.  While this approach may be fine in some situations, there is some wisdom in keeping a copy of that warranty plan in the car at all times.  Here are a couple of reasons why.

Having a copy of the auto warranty in the car can be very helpful if there is some difference of opinion in whether or not a particular event is covered under the terms.  By being able to produce a copy of the warranty at once, rather than having to head home and retrieve it, you can work with the dealer or the repair shop on the spot and come to a mutual understanding.  This in turn will often mean the repairs can commence without delay, allowing your car to be back on the road in less time.

Another reason to carry a copy of your auto warranty in the car is for quick reference.  Here, the goal is to be able to quickly consult the document to determine if certain events are covered and what circumstances must exist in order to claim that cover.  This is helpful when comparing terms with other warranty plans, or even for retrieving data such as where you can take the car for repairs while far from home and avoid invalidating the warranty itself.  While you may never need to consult your auto warranty quickly, having one handy at all times can certainly help out in an emergency situation.
